In my travels, I get to meet a variety of people with incredible stories to share. This series focuses on the rare glimpses I get into other people’s lives. These stories are meant to be observations and thought-provoking, and not in anyway a judgment or criticism.
Returning from a sales training trip to Chi-Town, I struck a conversation with the shuttle driver.
“Is your day just starting?” I asked as I checked my watch: 10:26 am.
“Nah, I’m done in half an hour,” he chuckled. “I’ve been here since three.”
“You’re way too chipper to be up before three. If it were me, well I couldn’t do it.”
”I’m used to it. Once I’m done here, I go to my other job. I have a second job.”
”A second job?”
”Yeah, at Costco. I work three to eleven.”
“when do you sleep?”
”Oh it’s nothin’. When I leave there, I’m close enough that I can hop in the shower, grab some soup, and sleep for about an hour, hour and a half.”
”You must be exhausted,” I blurted.
“I am if I don’t get to sleep for that hour, but you gotta pay the bills.”
